Job Title: Myeloma Data Analyst

About the Job

The Data Analyst will play a key role in analyzing data, preparing and presenting reports, and executing tasks under the purview of the Quality Manager, Practice Administrator, and Malignant Hematology Medical Director. This will require the capacity to deal with a diverse group of personnel. Ability for multitasking and dealing with high volumes of work and a sense for data, project management, and problem solving are important.

Key Responsibilities

  • Abstract clinical data and participate in the evaluation, maintenance, and modifications of the clinical outcomes database.
  • Generate, analyze standardized reports on patient treatments, toxicity, and outcomes; respond to requests for information regarding BMT patients; and participate in collecting follow-up information from outside sources.
  • Comply with institutional, regulatory, and federal regulations.

Work with Quality Team

The Data Analyst will work closely with the Quality Manager and other managers on projects designed to improve effectiveness or efficiency in data accuracy, efficiency in operations, and participate in the development of benchmarks to better oversee the entire quality aspects of the data collected by the BMT unit in the division.

The UCSF Multiple Myeloma Program is a unit within the Division of Hematology & Oncology and its mission is to provide compassionate, patient-centered care and our team of clinicians and researchers are dedicated to improving outcomes for all patients.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
  • Working knowledge of research function.
  • Working skills in statistical analysis, systems programming, database design, and data security measures.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including problem-solving, teamwork development, leadership, and mentorship.
  • Ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality of protected health information.

Preferred Qualifications

We prefer candidates with:

  • Advanced degree.
  • At least 2 years of experience with data management.
  • Basic Life Support: CPR and AED.
  • Knowledge of CIBMTR reporting, data abstraction, and quality data submission.
