Job Description:

Role: Senior Oracle Database Administrator Location: St. Louis, MO Duties and Responsibilities: § Monitor Oracle databases for performance problems and recommend performance-tuning actions using Oracle utilities, other vendor software and utilities or programs developed independently § Recommend, install, and maintain relevant network components to ensure database access, consistency, and integrity § Recommend, test, and implement new releases of the Oracle database product § Respond to and resolve Oracle access and performance issues § Design and implement new databases as required by Company business requirements and assist in the development of utilities/programs to be used in the loading of data into the databases § Train other DBAs as needed in the Oracle database environment and on any application in which the DBA has knowledge § Initiate, review, and maintain policies and procedures pertaining to database recovery and disaster recovery § Installation and maintenance of Oracle product and utilities § Develop, implement, and maintain change control and testing procedures for modifications to Oracle databases § Research, recommend, and install Oracle database support products and tools and application development products and tools § Recommend, establish, and implement Oracle database policies and procedures to ensure the integrity, recoverability, and availability of the Companys data controlled by these databases § Perform off-hours production support as needed § Plan and coordinate data migrations between operating systems § Regular attendance is considered an essential job function § Work with application development staff to establish Oracle coding and testing policies and standards as well as assist/answer any questions/problems regarding application development § Assist Oracle DBAs in the performance of their duties § Work/interface with Server and Network staff to determine space availability and placements of Oracle databases § Work with user groups to establish long range strategic goals for Oracle databases § Interface with other department personnel as required § Participate in departmental and user group meetings § Ability to lead by example in support of the Companys essential characteristics and values: strong ethics and integrity, dedication to a safe work environment, commitment to a diverse workforce that recognizes and respects every individuals unique skills and perspectives. § Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines. § Ability to adapt in a fast-moving and changing culture § Strong interpersonal skills with the proven ability to build and establish rapport with a diverse array of people. § Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in order to meet individual goals and deadlines. § Ability to work as part of a team and display a positive attitude for this dynamic environment. § All other duties as assigned. Job Requirements Required knowledge, skill and abilities: § Five to six years of experience as an Oracle database administrator § Two to five years of project management experience § In depth understanding of Oracle database structures, theories, principles and practices, including but not limited to the creation and definition of database, database recovery procedures, and database product installation § SQL, SQL-Plus, and CRON coding knowledge and experience § Knowledge of Oracle fundamentals § Strong PC skills and knowledge
