Job description
The Director, North American Supply Chain is responsible for all Supply Chain Operations for Milacron.. Based out of Madison Heights, Michigan, the incumbent will oversee the supply chain function and team at all North American Facilities (Canada and the USA). They will drive strategic supply chain operations and will be responsible for:
- Overall‚ responsibility for the appropriate availability and fulfillment of DME‚ products and services, including selection and pricing of products to meet‚ market needs, and the commercial interaction with customers via contracts‚ and e-commerce
- Developing and managing the execution of strategic and operating plans to ensure that DME has appropriate product availability to meet current and projected market demand
- Communicate resource plans to gain consensus from Sales, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing that respond to current and expanding markets; and to develop Manufacturing/Distribution models to determine and validate business strategies
Key Duties& Responsibilities:
- Together with dedicated S&OP resources, build consensus with the Sales Team, Supply Chain Team and Manufacturing Team on current and future demand scenarios; provide input to the S&OP process, interpret data emerging from S&OP and lead the execution of the Supply Chain actions required
- Manage inventory (products stocked, stocking levels, control of slow moving/obsolete) to optimize business performance
- Manage the replenishment function and team to ensure that stocked parts are replenished efficiently, and that customer service/fulfillment decisions regarding make/buy/stock of customer requested parts are optimally handled
- Develop, implement and update as required the Supply Chain Strategy, including the Inventory Strategy
- Lead and develop the Supply Chain Planning function and provide input to the business forecasting process
- With the Master Scheduler, ensure that manufacturing and production schedules‚ are meeting customer requirements for supply chain effectiveness and that capacity planning is adequate to meet projected market demand needs
- With Engineering and Quality Control resources, review product specifications and incoming product quality and recommend on existing and potential new supplier capabilities and suitability
- With dedicated Procurement resources, ensure that packaging costs and freight costs are effectively managed
- With input from the Sales Team, ensure that customer commercial interaction with DME (via e-Commerce and contractual arrangements) are optimized
- Lead or provide significant input to Supply Chain continuous improvement initiatives including business processes, information systems, and inventory and warehouse management systems
- Ensure that advances in Supply Chain Management best practices, and global Milacron policies for Supply Chain Management are implemented across DME as appropriate
Desired Skills and Experience
- Degree or diploma in Engineering or Business plus ten to fifteen (10-15) years related experience with a minimum of 8 years of direct management experience ina technical or analytical environment
- An advanced degree such as an MBA is a definite asset
- Experience in and sound knowledge of best practices for supply chain management,logistics, inventory control, vendor management, and the distribution function are required.
- High-level business management and analytic skills including quantitative analysis, supply chain management and inventory management metrics and analysis, business economics, budgeting and finance, project management capabilities and proficiency in relevant software applications are essential.
- North American travel, up to 30% is required.
