The Planner II position is responsible for all supply chain planning and buying activities related to product supply from external manufacturing suppliers, and transfers from both client facilities & manufacturing locations.
He/She will also be responsible for optimizing inventory across the network keeping in line with targeted customer service levels and desired inventory levels for assigned portfolio(s) of SKUs.
Procurement plans must meet inventory requirements, balance supplier capacity constraints, and achieve company goals and objectives for both financial and service level metrics.
He/She will possess the skills and aptitude required to plan multiple product lines and provide cross-functional support to stakeholders in Marketing, Operations, Distribution and Sales.
The Planner II will be expected to facilitate the execution of supplier production schedules and provide accurate and timely maintenance of the inventory control and planning systems (JDE & Invistics).
Key Responsibilities
Order Management: Prepare, execute, and manage the daily/monthly/weekly order schedule to achieve line item fill rate (LIFR) and inventory goals.
Coordinate activities and communication with Sales, Customer Service, Supplier Management and MDC & Branch Operations teams to adjust plans for changes in forecast, actual supply, or demand.
Order and replenish inventories in line with supplier lead times and requirements.
Review and manage discrepant invoices on an exception basis that are not in complete agreement with purchase ordersBranch Inventory:
Manage inventory transfers to the branches and maintains branch level and MDC inventories in accordance with inventory policies and strategies.
Monitor and track all shipments and on time delivery performance to the main distribution centers (MDCs) and branch DCs.Supply Chain Performance:
Monitor and report on inventory levels, fill rates and backorders at both the company and branch level for designated product categories.
Measure, communicate and act on supplier delivery & quality performance and identify key drivers of defects and develop / execute improvement programs.
Perform ad-hoc analysis, recognize issues and recommend changes to management.S
ystem data integrity: Responsible for the accurate input and maintenance of item master data within JDE & Invistics.
This includes, but is not limited to, purchase price, standard cost, lead times, ABC/cycle count codes, as well as ROP/CAP/MOQ and demand calculations.
Planner will also be responsible for accurate and timely master data management of phase-out and discontinued SKUs in their assigned portfolio(s).
Additionally, must be able to identify excess, obsolete and discontinued inventory issues and develop actions for disposition/avoidance.
New products: Represent supply chain organization on new product development and promotions teams to establish integration of the new product.
Support teams objectives for new products and line extensions.
Supplier Interaction: Manage routine contact with suppliers to coordinate the timely flow of information relating to purchase orders and supplier commitments.
Track supplier commitments, production schedules, rebates, and shipments in-transit.
Support the Director, Supplier and Quality Management on quality issues, pricing updates, and issues that arise that could impact product performance and delivery.
Provide inputs for supplier reviews/scorecards and take a proactive approach in corrective action with suppliers as necessary.
Special projects, analysis, and other duties as assigned.
Key Requirements:
Bachelors Degree in Supply Chain or Operations Management or similar
3-5 years of experience within Supply Chain/Operations Management departments
Strong computer literacy JDE, AS400, Excel, SmartSheet, and Invistics (or ability to learn)
Detail oriented and organized, performs to a high degree of accuracy in all tasks
Efficient time-management and prioritization skills in a fast-paced environment
Strong analytical and business competency
Advanced skills to perform in-depth data analysis, interpret and draw conclusions
Ability to analyze inventory performance, develop, and execute corrective actions
General understanding of components of a balance sheet and profit & loss statement
Prior experience with master data maintenance in high SKU mix

APICS certification CPIM or CSCP
Previous experience in global planning and distribution across multiple facilities
Operating knowledge of Invistics or similar demand planning software
Continuous improvement experience including Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing
Understanding of MRP/ERP/Kanban Demand-Flow Technology systems
Previous experience with contract sales and supplier relationship management
