Job Description:-
  • Sr Systems Engineer (maybe an architect) - Small team of about 5 people and this will be the most senior person, so he needs a jack of all trades and someone that is really good with documentation.
  • Needs a person that compare different vendorÃ?¢??s solutions and make recommendations for client.
  • Will be interfacing with c-level people so must be polished and be able to dumb product information / details down and not talk over people.
  • Work with multiple Vendors and Managed Services Partners to compare technologies and design best technical solutions for client, work with IT Leadership to make sure solutions approved as projects, understand the cost to the business vs problem a solution is solving, compare different technologies and recommend best solution, Follow ITILv3 best practices
  • Plan, Design / Documents, Test / Implement, Transition to Operations, Continual Service Improvement.
  • Every Solution will be fully documented and posted to shared document library.
  • Work with IT Operations Peers to finalize designs and ongoing support models, assist IT Operations with implementing the services when required, provide Tier 3 support during critical outages.Name the top 3 MUST HAVES of the role.
Senior Level Route / Switching:
  • Experience in both Datacenter and branch office environment
  • Fully understands multiple routing protocols to include BGP, BGP Loadsharing / Failover, OSPF, EIGRP, Static, Route Redistribution, BFD, GLBP, HSRP, etc.
  • understands when it is best to deploy each one.
Senior Level Network Design experience in Data Centers:
  • Nexus 9K, vs CSR 1000V, vs NSX.
  • Next Gen Router edge ASR 100x vs 4K,
  • Data Center routing to UCS and Storage environments.
  • Service Defined Networking (SDN),
  • iWAN vs traditional BGP Meds.
  • Must have Sr level Experience with the following:
  • Mandatory Requirements: MPLS WAN routing and DiffServe / ToS QoS, Cisco DMVPN IPSEC VPNÃ?¢??s, Cisco ASA Anyconnect, Cisco ASA Firewall, Juniper SSL Appliances, F5 Load balancers, Cisco Nexus L3 Switching (EIGRP / OSPF routing), Cisco / Brocade Fabric Switching. Cisco 2921/ 2951 / 4xxx routers, Cisco 35xx / 38xx / 45xx, Cisco UCSe Blades in routers (DNS, DHCP, SCCM, vWAAS), Cisco WAAS / Talon, Cisco Wireless LAN, Raritan Terminal Servers, Layer
  • 7 toolsets (Solarwinds, Cisco PRIME, Cisco Total Care, APM tool
  • Fluke APA, Foglight, ServiceNow, etc
  • Bonus Experience = Cisco UCS Server environments, VMWare design experience, Enterprise Storage Experience (NetApp or PURE, CIFS, NTFS, GPFS), Hyper Converged Infrastructure (Nutanix), Security (Palo Alto / Wildfire)
  • Specific software/technical skills
  • MS Office, PowerPoint, Visio, Cisco CLI, Cisco CCO, Vendor Portal Access.
Years of experience:
  • Minimum 10 years practical experience.
Education:
  • Rather have someone that knows Networking and Network Design REALLY WELL, than a college degree or Certification.
  • You can tell when someone has certs and knows nothing vs hands on experience with a ton of knowledge.
  • If they have the College Degree and Certification plus know their stuff than thatÃ?¢??s a bonus, but none are required for me.
Soft skills/team environment:
  • Strong Network Design (Visio) and Documentation practices.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills.
  • This person must be comfortable presenting solutions to business units and IT Sr Leadership.

  • Work Hours -This will become a Salary position 40-50 hours per week is standard, however sometimes more.
