Role: Business Application Analyst - IS Revenue Cycle

Location: Wilmington, NC

Primary Job Duties

  • Designs, documents and implements future-state clinical workflows consistent with business / finance / revenue cycle best practices and system functionality in collaboration with other team members, department representatives, and under the general direction of the Project Manager.
  • Analyzes current state workflows / needs and translating these into system design.
  • Designs, builds and validates the application to conform to desired clinical workflows within assigned area.
  • Collaborates with Principal Trainers in the design and development of role-based training programs to support the workflows to be implemented.
  • Trains end-users on proper use of the application.
  • Populates master tables and system files in accordance with established guidelines following standards for naming and numbering conventions and security classifications.
  • Follows established guidelines for system change control.
  • Implements approved changes based on customer-designated priorities.
  • Maintains system documentation to enable ongoing support of the system.
  • Identifies revisions needed to existing Policies & Procedures, and initiates revision process with appropriate organizational departments.
  • Supports end-users onsite during go-live events.
  • Troubleshoots problems identified by team members and end-users.
  • Identifies, documents, tracks and resolves issues pertaining to workflows.
  • Reviews and tests new builds and releases prior to implementing in the production environment.
  • Tests in a structured manner and documents testing results.
  • Identifies potential system enhancement needs.
  • Cross-coordinates the design of future-state workflows with other interdisciplinary teams, both clinical and revenue cycle.
  • Understands LEAN methodology in advance of implementation and certification.
  • Identifies business / finance / revenue cycle content functional requirements and timeliness to the appropriate Content Sub-Committee (Revenue Cycle, Billing, HIM, or Accounting / Finance teams.)
  • Collaborates with appropriate Content Sub-Committee to plan and present Epic model system or third party vendor business content for business review by subject matter experts.
  • Serves as a staff resource to the business Content Sub-Committees; may participate in business content review meetings, takes minutes, perform demonstrations, and support the committees as necessary.
  • Coordinates implementation (upload) of business content components with TSG technical resources, using the established change control guidelines for this process.
  • Cross-coordinates updates of business contents with peers on Training Team to ensure their understanding of revised content.
  • Communicates project status with team, department representatives and leaders (including Senior Leadership).
  • Provides formal status report on a periodic basis to supervisor as requested.

Essential Job Specifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, information services or other related field required.

Lic ensure / Certifications: For Ambulatory & Affiliated IS Applications Team(9425):

  • Will be required to obtain EPIC certification within six months of completing training in assigned application module(s).
  • Must maintain EPIC certification in assigned application module(s).

Experience:

  • Demonstrates ability to develop creative solutions to complex problems.
  • Possesses an understanding of computer system capabilities to address process requirements.
  • Experience in a computer system implementation preferred.
  • Epic Professional Billing and Claims certification preferred.
