Role: Business Analyst

Loc: Vancouver, Ca

  • Act as intermediary between product stakeholders and developers, in some cases as proxy product owner.
  • Describe and document business value proposition, business processes, requirements, use cases, and technical specifications at a level of detail appropriate to the scenario.
  • Help to estimate, plan, monitor and communicate throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Identify delivery validation criteria and perform and/or oversee data integrity, performance reliability and quality assurance testing
  • Recognise when requirements of stakeholders and product owners have changed and then oversee appropriate change control / impact analysis.
  • Understand system behavior and the flow of information through the data model. Gather requirements and assists in the creation of views, SSRS reports, and APIs.
  • Apply IT methodologies for issue management, development, testing, change management, and communications.
  • Challenge the status quo. Question why we do things.

Requirements (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

  • Minimum 2 years working in an agile/scrum framework, including feature/product backlog organization, sprint planning, product ownership, story point sizing.
  • Minimum 5 years working as a business analyst with 2 years or more of that time for data analytics projects.
  • Proven experience in eliciting and documenting requirements in clear and detailed language.
  • Outgoing personality with excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
  • Must be comfortable delivering presentations and leading meetings.
  • Expertise in using relational database models to understand, troubleshoot and help illustrate specifications and development work.
  • Demonstrated system/data modeling skills.
  • Solid experience in writing SQL queries.
  • Understanding of systems engineering concepts.
  • Leadership and facilitation abilities, with experience coordinating activities for team members you have no direct authority over.
  • Experience with Microsoft Team Foundation Services (TFS) an asset.
  • Familiarity with change management procedures.
  • Comfortable challenging assumptions and rationales in a constructive manner.
  • Problem solving.
  • Experience with SSRS, PowerBI, or similar tool is an asset.
