Job Description

Job Responsibilities:

• Applies broad background in specification, design, and development of user interfaces for surgical planning or related applications to help produce a best-in-class surgical planning system for hip and knee surgery.
  
• Works collaboratively with surgeon consultants and application engineers to understand user needs and to define and realize simple, yet robust, surgical planning and data management workflows.
  
• Designs modern, attractive user interfaces and user experience components. Works as needed with graphic artists to define and maintain look-and-feel consistency and professional appearance.
  
• Understands and works within a well-defined product development process. Helps improve product development process based on expertise in user experience engineering processes.
  
• Helps define and refine prototype algorithms, UIs, and visualization applications to a production level.
  
• Works within quality system environment to produce required technical and regulatory documentation.
  
• Produces and executes development plans in accordance with department goals and objectives.
  

Desired Skills and Experience

• Degree in computer science, biomedical engineering, or related field.
  
• Familiarity with C++ and open source toolkits and packages for 3D data visualization and user interface realization, such as VTK and Qt. Experience working with software and application engineers at a technical level
  
• Demonstrated expertise in designing high quality, professional user interface applications.
  
• Experience working with medical image data, including CT scans.
  
• Understanding of orthopedic joint replacement procedures, and experience with clinicians and clinical environments, is a plus.
