Overview

  • The Supply Chain Buyer/Planner is responsible for optimizing product availability and lowest landed cost in a multi-location global distribution environment.
  • This position will define materials strategies and plan target materials levels that will enable the company to meet/exceed customer service levels and working capital objectives.
  • The Supply Chain Buyer/Planner is responsible for the decision of when and how much material is purchased.
  • Collaboration with other members of the Supply Chain, Sourcing, Sales, Marketing, and Customer Support Teams is critical to achieve the objectives

Key Responsibilities

  • Materials Management Activities
  • Establish materials planning strategies and create target materials levels based on changes in demand and/or market trends.Effectively communicate planning strategies with cross functional partners.
  • Maintain finished goods materials planning parameters (safety stock, reorder point quantities, lot sizes, forecast, lead-times, etc.) such that the finished goods availability levels and working capital objectives are in line with the monthly S&OP expectations.
  • Plan and execute purchase order creation and confirmation of materials.
  • Review and resolve SAP exception messages on a daily basis.
  • Analyze and maintain MRP rules through SAP to have the right product at the right location at the right time.
  • Track confirmations, deliveries and expedite deliveries as necessary.
  • Manage slow moving, excess and obsolete materials.
  • This includes limiting the purchasing of it as well as disposition of existing excess and obsolete materials.
  • Incorporate any product phase out plans and/or new product introductions within the materials planning parameters to minimize excess and obsolete materials.
  • Responsible for working with Quality, Sales, Finance and Warehouse to resolve receiving issues, rejections of material, quality issues or vendor return problems.
  • Set up initial planning parameters for newly created material masters and extend materials masters to other plants as needed.
  • Meet Key deliverables including but not limited to At Risk items, Stock outs, Past Due POs, DIO (Days Inventory On Hand) and Inventory Value through daily/weekly management.
