Project Manager Needed
Location: Red Deer Alberta
Summary of Role
Reporting to the VP, Operations and working in partnership with the field operations, the position will be responsible and accountable for providing project management leadership to a project team during all phases of the projects, including development, construction, commissioning and start-up for maintenance, shutdowns/turnarounds and construction.
Roles and Responsibilities
Be disciplined in utilizing clients proprietary Project Management Manual (PMM) as well as Hard Dollar Software;
Support a working environment that strives to meet HSE objectives;
Organize and support daily operations, turnarounds/outages and projects;
Responsible for estimating departments and timely delivery of estimates to perspective clients;
Manage overall project performance based on metrics that include safety, cost, schedule, scope and quality;
Develop and implement communication plan for all key stakeholders;
Coordinate and monitor the work of third parties;
Ensure that business is conducted in an ethical and professional manner with compliance to all relevant government legislation, client standards;
Work with the Vice President, Operations to promote the company for strategic growth;
Support the measurement and improvement of KPI targets (PM & Schedule compliance, maintenance cost, etc.);
Cost management against established budgets, ensure cost management systems are aligned with financial reporting criteria/systems;
Development of a pro-active, reliability based, construction/maintenance execution reporting system to cover an area and plant by plant basis that provides management with clear and advanced/timely information to enable appropriate management intervention and direction;
Develop a planning system solution (or equivalent) for all area construction/maintenance works. It should utilize other systems as required to ensure advanced planning and scheduling information is utilized in the pre-planning and execution performance of work;
Develop and implement a process of benchmarking within all client operations and develop improvement strategies for each area as appropriate;
Be responsible for the delivery of end to end preventative and reactive construction/maintenance solutions at each area location especially in respect to budget, schedule and safety performance but also including end user acceptance and satisfaction;
Drive strategic reviews of construction/maintenance and reliability performance to enable the continuous and pro-active improvement of each of the operational areas;
Champion continuous improvement through reliability and business initiatives;
Identify areas to reduce operating costs and improve value of service delivery (i.e. inventory control/processes); and
Lead “Lessons Learned” reviews post bid, project or event.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Strong safety ethics and working knowledge of safety procedures, rules and regulations;
Team leader committed to safety and quality in a heavy industrial environment;
Must be a self-starter with proven ability to make comprehensive decisions;
Ability to prioritize and plan weeks ahead of actual execution;
Ability to coordinate cost or schedule driven projects in a team orientated environment;
Working knowledge of quality control requirements, testing techniques and processes;
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Good verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence internal and external clients.
Able to develop and instruct personnel in proper construction &/or maintenance methods, skills and techniques;
Experience estimating projects, (material & labour), scheduling and managing projects to completion;
Understanding of engineering drawings, P&ID’s, scope and specifications;
Qualifications
10 – 15 years Industrial Construction and/or maintenance experience;
Mechanical Technologist or equivalent multi- trades experience;
Minimum of 10+ years’ experience in Leadership role;
Current safety certifications including CSTS; First Aid; H2S;
Valid driver’s license;
Proven understanding of OH&S regulations.
PMP designation would be an asset
