DescriptionAn immediate full-time position is open for a Structural Civil Engineer. This position currently resides in our Tahoe City office, but could be based in our Auburn or Reno office for the right individual.
Candidates must be experienced in residential, commercial, educational, and resort/hospitality engineering and design. A significant portion of our work is wood/timber framed construction throughout the Tahoe/Truckee area, which requires design for significant snow loads and seismic requirements.
We are also seeing an increase in commercial and educational projects as we grow outside the Tahoe Basin with projects throughout Northern California and Nevada. The structural department services projects initiated within company, as well as from our broad client base, which includes private developers, outside architects, public agencies, contractors, and homeowners.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides structural engineering services for varying levels of projects. Handles multiple projects simultaneously with minimal oversight, beginning with predesign and stewarding the project through construction.
Critical knowledge components include wood/timber framing, steel, concrete and masonry design. Coordination with clients, governing agencies and contractors. Conduct site and agency visits to ensure project timelines are met.
QUALIFICATIONS :
Bachelor's degree in engineering required, 6 to 10 years structural design experience Professional Engineering (PE) licensure in California and Nevada required (or the ability to obtain in 6 months);
Structural Engineering (SE) licensure preferred, strong background in wood framed construction, significant experience with medium and large construction projects utilizing steel, concrete and masonry construction, understanding of codes and construct ability, CAD and Revit skills preferred, adapt to changing situations daily, exceptional organizational skills, precise verbal and written communication skills, ability to communicate effectively with clients, agencies, and contractors is required.

Candidates must be experienced in Land Development. Our practice is very complicated in this highly regulated delicate environment that we work in. Environmental concerns affect all projects in this Alpine setting.
The work is a varied and interesting mix of commercial sites, ski area projects, small and large subdivisions, public recreation facilities, and public infrastructure projects.
The technical skills needed relate to hydrology, grading, water quality treatment, revegetation, water and sewer design, water supply systems, agency processing and permitting, and Environmental Document preparation.
The best candidate would be very nimble and able to handle multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.

We just opened a Reno office to take advantage of the robust economy and our relationships in that area.
