Company is seeking Field Engineer (security) for New Orleans, LA.
Under general supervision, the Field Engineer performs preventive and corrective maintenance on a range of security checkpoint systems, i.e., explosive trace detection, advanced imaging technology, advanced x-ray technology, bottle liquid scanner, and enhanced metal detectors.
Performs Other Related Work As Required.Ability to repair and test security checkpoint systems; operate related tools and equipment; troubleshoot and repair microprocessor-based control equipment; diagnose electronic failures to the component level; interpret electrical codes and regulations; maintain accurate records and prepare reports; communicate effectively; establish and maintain effective working relationships with other contractor employees and the customer.
Ensures systems and related equipment are in working condition.Maintains records on repairs, down time, changes and updates.Assist and train others in the required tools and processes of the functional area.
Computer Knowledge & Skills:
PC literate (Microsoft Office, upload and download files, update records, administrative duties, e-mail, time sheets, Internet, etc.)Answers internal inquiries and troubleshoots hardware failures either in-person or on the phone.Implementing software changes (Upload, Download & SW Regression) .
Installing new software and hardware into various devices of security checkpoint systems.Good working knowledge of power testing, AC and DC.
Be responsive to call outs and periodic on call availability including working with centralized control centers.Acts as the subject matter expert regarding functional area processes and protocols.
Performs hardware and software moves, ads and changes.Knowledge of the installation, maintenance and repair of security checkpoint systems, gained through training or prior work experience.
Ability to lift 45 lbsRequired ExperienceAll positions require the ability to obtain and maintain a DHS Position of Trust clearance.Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 3 years' experience as a Field Engineer11 years experience may be substituted in lieu of degree.
3 years experience using Microsoft operating systems, and the components of the Microsoft Office suite.Possess and maintain a valid Driver's License and a satisfactory driving record as conditions of initial and continued employment.
Preferred Qualifications :
Ability to work out of ones home in an on-call status.
Financial compensation for on-call status has been factored into hourly rate.3 years of experience working with the FAA or TSAExperience with performing Radiation Leak Tests and Radiation Surveys on security checkpoint systems.
