Role:User Experience Designer
Location:Jacksonville, FL
General Duties & Responsibilities
- Responsible for all aspects of user experience and software interface design as directed by product owners, including audience and task analysis, market analysis, scenario building, story boarding, prototyping, and defining interface specifications, guidelines, and standards.
- Researches and analyzes target audiences for software, conducts necessary front-end customer and user experience research.
- Leads the user-centered and customer experience design process by conducting in field observations and interviews, surveys, focus groups, exploratory studies, and task analyses.
- Conducts user research, such as stakeholder interviews, contextual inquiry, heuristic analysis, and more.
- Produces research-driven assets such as personas, journey maps, and findings with recommendations.
- Produces design assets such as information architecture / sitemaps, interaction patterns, and clickable wire frames.
- Lead interactions with clients and user groups such as presenting and accepting feedback on assets, facilitating design and co-innovation workshops, earning buy-in from stakeholders, and making recommendations.
- Works closely with clients to identify and interpret specific business needs and to develop creative products to meet needs.
- Acts as representative for company users and customers.Lead small projects or collaborate with members of your multidisciplinary team.Advocate for users and user-centered design practices.
- Solve complex problems with innovative solutions that show a deep understanding in digital trends and emerging technologies.
- Collaborates with engineers to design total human-computer interaction and to develop flow of information in company software applications.
- Collaborates with product teams to ensure user-centered design process is incorporated into company's development life cycle.
- Collaborates with developers and designers to design and prototype software human interfaces using development tools.Develops and maintains human interface specifications, guidelines, and standards.
- Participates in usability testing process by working on test plans, attending test sessions, and brainstorming solutions to interface problems with usability specialists.
- Defines and communicates design guidelines and ensures creative products adhere to security, usability, and quality standards.Other related duties are assigned as needed.
Background Requirements
- Minimum of a Bachelor\'s degree in Cognitive Science, Interaction Design, Graphic Design, Human-Computer Interaction (Human Factors), Computer Science or a related field.
- 7+ years of progressive user experience, design and usability or related experience in a research and development environment.
- Professional experience using prototyping and wireframing tools; Axure 8 highly preferred.
- Professional experience using visual design tools; Sketch highly preferred. Photoshop or equivalent acceptable.
General Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Good working knowledge of graphical user interface principles and visual design principlesIs familiar with Windows-based human interface and development environment
- Deep understanding of digital trends and emerging technologies that drive innovative solutionsMust be familiar with experimental design, human factors, ergonomics, research methods, and behavioral sciences
- Requires a demonstrated ability to produce visual design prototypes, clickable wireframes and other design artifacts that support the user-centered design and build processProblem-solving and process improvement skills that lead to innovative solutions
- Requires a demonstrated ability to lead vision and design, and innovation workshopsCommunicates ideas both verbally and in written form in a clear, concise, and professional manner
- Have excellent speaking, listening and writing skillsMust be self-motivated and results oriented
