Job Description

  • Develop hardware and software solutions for the Cooperative Systems Section including: architecture design, software component development, unit testing, documentation, and integration testing for connected vehicle applications (using vehicle-to-vehicle V2V and vehicle-to-infrastructure V2I communication)
  • Develop algorithms for individual and multi-vehicle behaviors; support traffic modeling and simulation work that incorporates connected and/or automated vehicles
  • Perform in all phases of the development lifecycle, including requirements definition, software/systems design, implementation, testing, and integration
  • Support business development activities by interacting with clients, making technical presentations, and writing proposals; additional information about the type of work conducted by the Cooperative Systems Section can be found
  • Requires a BS degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering with 0-5 years experience or a MS degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering with graduate work related to transportation systems research, preferably related to wireless communications and connected vehicles.
  • Must have at least a 3.5 GPA. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well individually or as a member of a project team are required
  • Applicant will serve both as a software developer and researcher developing new technology areas for the Department;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and software development skills are required.
  • C/C++ and/or C# experience preferred, other object-oriented programming experience will be considered
  • Experience with wireless communications technologies and connected vehicle (V2X) technology preferred
  • Experience with perception (cameras, radar, lidar) and/or localization (GPS, inertial measurement unit) sensors a plus.
