Job Description:

POSITION SUMMARY As a member of the pharmacy management team, the clinical pharmacy manager drives the highest level of quality and clinical competency in the pharmacy department staff. Facilitates the development, implementation, and maintenance of systems, procedures and protocols that promote desirable patient outcomes through the use of safe and cost-effective drug therapies. Coordinates clinical pharmacy services and programs and participates in multi-discipline committees and projects to collaborate on pharmacy clinical issues throughout the hospital. Supervises clinical and staff pharmacist positions and coordinates the clinical pharmacy activities for the health care system. Coordinates the activities of the P#T committee; develops metrics to meet clinical regulatory requirements; works in conjunction with other clinical pharmacy resources across the integrated system of care. Responsible for process improvement related to clinical direction of the department, setting expectations and holding staff accountable for performance metrics related to clinical initiatives. The clinical manager also serves as the Residency Program Director for the PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Program as well as a preceptor for IPPE/ APPE students in the Health System Rotation. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Education Doctor of Pharmacy from ACPE accredited school of pharmacy# Minimum Experience Completion of an ASHP-accredited PGY1 residency followed by a minimum of three years of pharmacy practice experience; or Completion of ASHP-accredited PGY1 and PGY2 residencies with one or more years of pharmacy practice experience; or Without completion of an ASHP-accredited residency, have five or more years of pharmacy practice experience Required Registration/License/Certification Active and clear Registered Pharmacist License and Controlled Substances Permit issued by the State of Alabama. Board Certification from Board of Pharmacy Specialties# Preferred Education Doctor of Pharmacy# Preferred Experience Ten or more years of hospital pharmacy clinical experience and direct patient care involvement in a healthcare institution of equivalent size and scope to system Preferred Registration/License/Certification Completion of ASHP accredited PGY1 and PGY2
