Job Description:

Responsibilities:

Creates, maintains, and enhances Logical and Physical data models (LDMs and PDMs) consistent with the larger EDW architecture which spans multiple domains and presentation/integration layers
Creates, reviews, optimizes a rich and varied Semantic data model across physical and virtual implementations through a key understanding of relational database development, the Teradata platform and the various reporting and analytics tools and use cases (Business Objects, Tableau, Excel, ETL tools and web services)
Writes and tunes complex SQL queries on large database systems with deep understanding and specialization in Teradata
Ability to perform data administration and maintenance tasks including user management, performance management, space management, backup and recovery
Skilled in, data modeling and tuning, and ensuring an optimum failover, backup and recovery strategy and environment setup including loading and updating strategies
Demonstrates excellent communication skills with proven ability to work with various members of cross-functional IT and Business teams and help to gather data integration and reporting requirements from multiple business domains and stakeholders
Works directly with team members and IT leadership to help classify and prioritize work efforts and tasks across technical and business drivers for data warehouse initiatives and projects

Qualifications:

5+ years of experience in defining, designing, integrating and re-engineering the Enterprise Data warehouse and Data Marts in different environments like Teradata with multiple terabytes of size and various levels of complexity.
Experience in the complete data warehouse project life cycle is required (requirements gathering, architecture, design, implementation, and tuning)
Experience with leading ETL (Extract, Transform, and Load) tools / vendors so that the warehouse is populated with timely and accurate data
Familiarity with Report Writing tools such as BOBJ, Cognos, Report Services, or Microstrategy
Ability to set and enforce standards for data modeling, data warehousing, and data management
Proven leadership designing and overseeing a complete Data Warehouse systems architecture
Experienced in Windows/Linux/UNIX shell scripts to write wrapper scripts to call ETL Jobs
Ability to prioritize and manage concurrent projects, demonstrate initiative, and work independently with minimal supervision
Domain experience in Retail, Hospitality, or Consumer goods industries a huge plus
Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field preferred, MS degree a plus
5+ years of experience working in Teradata V2R12.x systems and used utilities like MultiLoad, FastLoad, FastExport, BTEQ, TPump, Teradata SQL
5+ Experienced in building Semantic data models in Teradata of different styles (flattened, star schema, snow flake) both physical and physical and virtual
7+ years of experience in Logical and Physical Data Model design using various modeling Tools such as Erwin
7+ Advanced SQL skills, including use of derived tables, unions, multi-table inner/outer joins.
Working experience in implementing large Teradata DBMSs
Experienced in master data management (MDM), Metadata management, data quality
Ability to work independently and as a team and able to effectively communicate with customers, peers and management at all levels in and outside the organization.
Excellent Team player and Quick learner with positive attitude and self motivation.
