Job Description:

  • Drive business intelligence initiatives throughout the company
  • Develop and apply new predictive models, data mining methods, and algorithms to support a variety of Informatics projects
  • Serve as a technical expert in data science within the broader ecosystem
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and technical peers throughout
  • Identify and leverage all relevant in-house, commercial, and publicly available data resources
  • Help shape the growth of in-house data resources
  • Communicate findings internally and externally

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related discipline or equivalent experience with 0-2 years of experience in industry.
  • Experience in designing and delivering business intelligence dashboards and visualizations
  • Experience in architecting ETL pipelines
  • Deep technical expertise in data science, including:
  • Advanced data modeling and mining techniques including nonlinear regression and machine learning methods
  • Math and statistics including design of experiments (doe), statistical tests, maximum likelihood estimators, etc.
  • Multiple statistical, scripting, or programming languages (Python, R, SAS, and/or Matlab)
  • Relational and NoSQL databases (schemas, query languages)
  • Experience with REST APIs and JSON
  • Data visualization and effective data communication techniques
  • Software development best practices including agile, version control (preferably Git), and code testing
  • Familiarity with business intelligence tools (SpotFire, Tableau, Looker)
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, comfort with senior management interactions
  • Positive team building and teamwork skills: innate ability to influence, lead and inspire people, within function and beyond functional/company boundaries

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of industrial experience
  • Basic understanding of molecular and cell biology
  • Database design and modeling
  • Experience in JavaScript, Node.JS, and web application development
  • Experience with infrastructure and services for High Performance Computing in the cloud (preferably AWS), including tools for distributed computing (preferably Hadoop or similar)
  • An established record of innovative research achievements reported in top-tier journals and/or patent applications
