Job Description:

RESPONSIBILITIES [WHAT]

  • The responsibilities of the COO include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Communicate, coordinate, and work with the Senior Vice Presidents of the Public and Private Marketplaces and their Division and Project Managers in the achievement of the companys revenue and net profit goals
  • Lead and manage the technical operations of the company
  • Develop, coach, and mentor the companys technical leaders
  • Establish and monitor goals for each of the technical leaders and their teams
  • Define, create, and implement operational strategies, goals, and messaging to improve throughput, quality, and professional enrichment
  • Make the important decisions needed to ensure our technical teams consistently deliver on promises of good design, quality work product, realization of scope, meeting the schedule, hitting the construction budget and achieving a high level of client satisfaction
  • Establish a system of accountability for improved operations (throughput and quality)
  • Oversee the hiring and on-boarding of new technical staff and design professionals
  • Guide the professional development of technical staff and design professionals
  • Attend and materially participate in high profile project marketing and interviews
  • Oversee the Risk Management efforts of the company
  • Encourage our technical teams to embrace culture and core values

SPECIFICATIONS [TICKET]

Required

  • Registered Architect or Professional Engineer
  • 15+ years of experience in the A/E/I/P industry
  • Evidence of career stability, progression and growth
  • Demonstrated experience of improving design firm throughput and quality
  • Experience leading large multi-discipline projects for public and private clients
  • Minimum of 5 yearsâ?? experience managing professionals in an A/E/I/P firm
  • Minimum of 5 yearsâ?? experience managing professional liability risk

Preferred

  • MBA
  • LEED AP
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) designation by Project Management Institute
  • Experience editing and negotiating standard A/E contracts

  • NCARB / NCEES
  • Demonstrated leadership in professional and /or civic organizations
