Create UX designs for individual features, as assigned, of relatively high complexity.
Put forward accurate time estimates of work to be done on a project.
Complete all scheduled tasks on time.
Work with Product Managers to review and understand product requirements for assigned features.
Identify and articulate end user tasks and goals.
Diagram workflow and task models.
Conceptualize and evaluate a range of innovative design solutions and/or research approaches.
Select a design direction based on feedback from the Product Manager, Engineers, and the Creative Lead for the relevant feature group.
Design wireframes and high-fidelity mockups (ensuring consistency with the official corporate application style guide, and established layout and workflow patterns).
Specify and design state transitions and animations.
Communicate, review and validate designs, throughout the entire creative process, with key internal, and possibly external, stakeholders.
May also contribute to technical implementation of styles (e.g., writing CSS, SASS, Mixins, etc.)
Ensure consistent application of established styles, layouts, interaction, state transitions or animations, and workflow patterns, by following official product and corporate style guides, leveraging corporate design libraries for UI mockups, and applying existing precedents within the product to new features.
Contribute feedback on the development of product style guide and design libraries.
Validate usability of designs with senior UX team members and key internal, possibly external, stakeholders.
Participate in other internal and external usability evaluations as requested by senior UX staff.
Make subjective design decisions within the scope of assigned features.
Defer to judgement of Creative Lead over assigned features or Creative Director to resolve differences of opinion.
Act as informal mentor to less experienced UX Designers.
Preferred Education
Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
Work Experience
Typically, 5 or more years of UX-related experience.
Skills & Competencies
Excellent ability to create, edit, validate, and deliver UX designs and to revise existing designs to improve usability.
Excellent ability to organize information and manage priorities and time.
Excellent communication skills (both business and technical).
Strong ability to collaborate constructively and positively with others.
Expert proficiency with office productivity tools for documents, spreadsheets, and presentations and design tools (i.e., Sketch and the Adobe Creative Suite).
Demonstrated exceptional artistic and visual design talent (i.e., portfolio of prior software interface design).
Expert proficiency with front-end technologies, with both the ability to implement designs as well as understanding of how front- and back-end technologies constrain and enable UI solutions.
Working knowledge of, and experience with, product internationalization, localization, and globalization and how requirements in these areas may constrain UI solutions.
Working knowledge of, and experience with, UX design across platforms, browsers, and devices.
Working knowledge of, and experience with, usability engineering and evaluation.
Advanced knowledge of relationship of UX activities to development methods and work instructions (ex: Agile, Lean).
Proficient ability to critique UX designs and constructively offer alternatives.
Proven track record of producing successful designs with complex workflow interactions and requirements.
