Job Description:

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement metrics that will enable the business to anticipate change, and demonstrate trends around utilization and impact.
  • Oversee payroll, benefits and employment functions for up to 1800 employees.
  • Payroll comprises 5 separate payrolls for up to 1800 employees via SAP.
  • Benefits comprises ESOP, defined benefit retirement plan, 401(k), medical, dental, vision, life insurance, AD&D, FSA, EAP, telemedicine etc.
  • Administration of FMLA, STD, LTD etc.
  • Employment comprises drug testing, competency testing, background checks etc.
  • Establish work processes, standards and team member roles.
  • Ensure compliance with all state and federal mandates.
  • Work with our third party benefits consultants/brokers to ensure that our existing benefits programs are running as planned.
  • Look for ways to improve our benefits offerings and service while reducing cost.
  • Organize and lead company-wide benefits roadshows and annual health and benefits fairs for employees.
  • Maintain excellent customer service.
  • Manage the departmental budget within set guidelines.

Requirements:

  • Possess and utilize a strong set of soft skills? and leadership competencies
  • Possess strong business acumen, and the ability to develop cost models to support change.
  • Possess a critical mindset and the ability to translate data to insight.
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively throughout all levels of a mid-size to large organization.
  • Must have a good understanding of current legislation such as PPACA, FMLA, COBRA, HIPAA, i9 administration etc.
  • Must be a strategic thinker as well as having the ability to lead staff by example and perform team member level work when necessary.
  • Must embrace change and have a proven track record of internal control design, process redesign and business process improvement.
  • Must be willing to deal firmly with vendors and hold them accountable for contract adherence and performance.
  • Must have familiarity with supporting the external audit of retirement plans.
  • Solid familiarity with ERP systems, particularly SAP HCM and SAP payroll.

Experience/Education:

  • University degree in a relevant field.
  • Payroll and/or compensation certification such as CPP or CCP.
  • SHRM or World at Work certification would be an advantage.
  • 5+ years experience as a payroll and benefits manager or director with a mid-size to large organization.
