Relationships
The position reports to the Chief Financial Officer to effectively maintain and control the general ledger accounts and business transactions of the organization, applying the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) that includes analytical work and thorough review of financial records.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
The essential duties include assisting management with development of tools and reports, process documentation and ad-hoc analysis. Provide objective insights, timely reporting, effective analysis and overall finance support to ensure productive management reviews, financially based decisions and proactive responses to identify and mitigate risk.
Provide assistance with the analysis and preparation of monthly, quarterly and year-end financial reports including analysis and evaluation of the data
Recommend and participate in the implementation of changes to accounting procedures and reports in an ongoing effort to continuously improve the quality of information and services provided
Ensure timely execution of the month end closing process in conjunction with the Accounting team
Evaluate financial implications of specific business decisions/opportunities and advise management accordingly to ensure achievement of targeted financial performance
Provide analytical support on cross-functional projects as requested
Gather, compile, analyze, prepare and summarize data for complex financial projects/subjects such as planning, formulating and conducting financial studies to define performance plans for short and long-range business goals
Evaluate financial implications of specific business decisions/opportunities and advises management accordingly to ensure targeted financial performance achievement
Exercise judgment to determine appropriate course of action and prepare business recommendation based on sound financial analysis
Participates in financial planning, budgeting and forecasting processes
Compiles data to determine insightful analysis that anticipates change and drives decision making
Provide effective and timely financial information, thoughtful business insights/analytics and business performance evaluations to ensure that business leaders are effective in creating and executing the business segment’s strategy and operating plan
Provide concise and effective communication of financial results in a timely manner
Maintain well-organized and efficient departmental files to provide easy accessibility to pertinent information
Assists in preparation of GAAP internal financial statements by gathering and analyzing information from the general ledger system and from departments
Prepares general ledger entries by maintaining records and files; reconciling accounts
Assists with year-end audit requested data and provide any interface as needed
Prepares various tax and corporate reports as needed on a timely basis
Researches GAAP related issues and makes recommendations
Other duties as assigned.
Required Position Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
At least 3 years cumulative relevant experience (accounting operations and/or audit)
Strong financial acumen with demonstrated analytical ability accompanied by knowledge of GAAP and corporate finance principles â?? understanding of P&L balance sheet and cash flow dynamics
Ability to accumulate, organize and manipulate quantitative data to identify and explain trends, problems and their causes. Compare, contrast and combine information to determine underlying issues.
Demonstrate a proficient level of professional skill and/or knowledge in accounting and keep current developments and trends. Knowledge and ability to use applicable information technology and systems to meet work needs
Proficient skill with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Word)
Demonstrate initiative and independence of action in performing the responsibilities of the position to identify and implement solutions with team input
Ability to present information in a competent, efficient manner in dealing with the various levels of company personnel
Must be able to manage many projects simultaneously and prioritize workload appropriately using strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to adapt quickly to new systems and a changing business environment
Ability to maintain confidential information
Demonstrated strong work-ethic, outstanding leadership ability and exceptional interpersonal skills
Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to clearly communicate issues to all levels of Management
Candidates must be eligible to work unrestricted in the U.S. without company sponsorship
Ability to comprehend, read, write and communicate proficiently in English and interact with all levels of the organization
Preferred Position Qualifications
CPA Certification preferred
5+ years experience preferably in an agricultural farming/packing environment
