Position Summary
The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for providing technical support and troubleshooting for manufacturing processes and equipment.
Principle Duties And Responsibilities
Understand the mechanical and structural design of automated machinery
Design hydraulic and pneumatic systems with detailed schematics
Perform motor sizing & selection for peak performance
Understand motion control design
Sensor and measurement device integration
Customize existing products to conform to customer specifications
Create build, installation, and maintenance procedures for product designs
Oversee product designs as they progress through production to optimize manufacturability and product quality
Oversee all contractor activities and projects
Lead/participate in continuous improvement processes and lean initiatives
Identify and implement improvements to material utilization, assembly line layout and machinery efficiency
Lead all Capex projects - specify/justify capital expenditures
All other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar degree
Minimum of 5 years experience designing machinery that contains hydraulic and pneumatic components
Previous manufacturing experience working with high speed equipment
Technical Skills
Siemens or Allen Bradley PLC experience
Electrical background
AutoCAD; 2D design & detailing
Solidworks; 3D design & detailing
Closed loop servo control systems
I/O devices & components
Manufacturing processes (sawing, welding, oxyfuel, plasma, laser, sheet metal forming, lathe operations, mill operations, grinding operations, component assembly, wiring, etc.)
Design selection of types and grades of materials for design purposes (plastics, aluminum, steel, etc.)
