Job Description:

Under the clinical supervision of the Medical Director of the site and with administrative oversight by the Program Director, the Psychiatric APRN/PA is responsible for providing reasonable and prudent psychiatric/medical care. Practices appropriate medication management and uses sound clinical judgment based on best practice standards. Conducts psychiatric evaluations, monitors medication, and contributes to differential diagnosis/treatment planning. May carry a therapy caseload as directed. Functions as part of the multi-disciplinary clinical team. Participates in chart review/peer review.


Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To

  • Educates patients on preventive behavioral/medical health care and chronic disease management and refers to appropriate resources or agencies
  • Practices appropriate follow-up care, outreach to special needs patients. Retrieves labs, diagnostic imaging and other consultation reports as indicated
  • Documents in timely and legible manner consistent with State, Federal and accreditation guidelines
  • Participates in protocol/policy/procedure development and revision in collaboration with Medical Director and Program Director of the site(s)
  • Provides supervision, guidance/consultation for staff as needed and directed by Medical or Program Director of the site(s)
  • Performs all other related duties as required


Requirements

  • Candidate must have a Masterâ??s of Science in Nursing from an accredited program and certified by the American Nurseâ??s Credentialing Center as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing (Psychiatric Mental Health Clinical Nurse Specialist PMH-CNS and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner PMH-NP).
  • Must be Board certified or eligible.
  • Connecticut licensure as a Registered Nurse and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse. CPR certification required.
  • Knowledge and competency regarding diagnosis, assessment and treatment of behavioral health services.
  • Excellent communication skills; both written and verbal.
  • Ability to generate high levels of client satisfaction.
  • Ability to work with interdisciplinary team.
  • Knowledge and skills related to individual, group and family system dynamics. Must demonstrate cultural competence.
