Director Risk & Insurance Loc: NJ HYBRID Model

Job Description:

This position will serve as the primary risk and insurance manager for the organization, reporting to the EVP & CFO, with authority to make decisions and recommendations affecting the entire organization. Major responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to, the following:

  • Recommend decisions on risk management and coverage cost issues affecting the organization.
  • Develop and implement strategic objectives, ensuring effective hazard, environmental, safety and security (typically insurable risks) risk management for the organization and lead key risk stakeholders to proper strategies.
  • Own the process of identifying, measuring and managing insurable risks, developing reports and plans, and analyzing risk/insurance problems and defining and/or overseeing the implementation of risk solutions that optimize operations.
  • Report findings on risk exposures to EVP & CFO including developing and managing an internal ERM program.
  • Direct the purchase of insurance programs, management of claims, and loss control activities.
  • Proactively and aggressively manage relationships with third-party service providers including brokers, insurers and other TPAs.
  • Lead claims management process for settlement of designated claims
  • Prepare loss analyses and budgets, identify exposures, recommend solutions, implement approved programs, promote loss prevention, summarize, and present the same to executive management.
  • Update and monitor compliance with insurance procedures and manage safety/risk management manuals.
  • Travel to various Client facilities and operational sites as required.


Required Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field of study.
  • 10-15 years experience in risk management including ERM.
  • Strong technical insurance expertise across various causality, insurance, and liability lines
  • Ability to perform a variety of tasks with minimal support staff.
  • Plan and direct business analysis, risk modeling, and loss prevention programs.
  • Management of third-party relationships.
  • Strong analytical skills, including the ability to quickly analyze data to generate key insight.
  • Proven ability to work in a team environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as organizational skills.
  • Strong business judgment, including the ability to balance resources.
  • Experience working for a national corporation at the senior manager or director level is preferred.
