Qualifications Bachelors of Science Degree in Business Management and/or Engineering with a high degree of knowledge of financial management, problem solving and mentoring/coaching techniques Responsibilities â?¢ This position has responsibility for the overall manufacturing Operations in Asia (China, Japan, India, Vietnam, Philippines, S. Korea and Thailand), Europe (France, Hungary, Morocco), North America (El Paso and Queretaro) locations â?¢ The Director of Operations will provide Strategic leadership support to ensure that resources and structure are in place for effective implementation of strategies to optimize the manufacturing footprint for the business â?¢ He/She will be responsible for driving continuous improvement by implementing Lean principles to ensure product, process and delivery flow within all the regions â?¢ The Global Director of Operations will develop and lead, with the Plant Managers, the implementation of a strategy for improving conversion, maximizing capacity utilization, while focusing manufacturing resources on the highly engineered solutions and products in the portfolio â?¢ Additionally the Global Director of Operations will work with the Plant Manager and his/her respective Manufacturing Engineering Teams/Value Stream Managers in order to support process standardization, automation and best practice knowledge exchange â?¢ Develop and manage the implementation of strategic plans including Lean, operational development, manufacturing standardization and product manufacturing to â??Operational Excellenceâ? status to ensure that critical milestones are achieved â?¢ Responsible for conversion within the P&L â?¢ Maximize synergies within manufacturing operations to reduce cost, eliminate redundancies and improve processes and product flow â?¢ Develop and direct short and long range manufacturing strategies, inclusive of product outsourcing strategies, to meet and exceed current and future business plans â?¢ Define and recommend objectives in each facility â?¢ Develop specific short-term and long-term plans and programs, together with supporting budget request and financial estimates â?¢ Rationalization of manufacturing operations between multiple plants to optimize cost, and equipment and capacity utilization â?¢ Work with plant managers to ensure all manufacturing activities, scheduling, shipping and receiving, tooling maintenance accounting, IS, engineering, human resource activities and program management to meet goals â?¢ Maintain employee relations practices necessary to establish a positive employer-employee relationship and promote high level of morale â?¢ Use Lean initiatives and techniques throughout the business units resulting in operating efficiencies, inventory reductions, quality improvement and economies of scale â?¢ Emphasize sound business and operations processes and build strong, effective and collaborative teams within the operations and engineering environment â?¢ Maximize manufacturing utilization and throughput to assure that each operation is the producer of the highest quality at lowest product cost â?¢ Ensure that world-class environmental health and safety work processes and results are in place and consistently utilized â?¢ Provide active participation and guidance to operations to ensure the manufacturing workforce is capable and motivated, working with maximum efficiency and effectiveness to contribute to the business â?¢ Benchmarking externally of process and manufacturing technologies â?¢ Establish standards for processes and equipments in coordination with Product Engineering and Advance Manufacturing â?¢ Support the establishment of new sites â?¢ Support the transfer of new products, processes and equipments into new locations including needed training activities
Key Skills:
- Ability to effective manage diverse team and motivate/lead them – must have experience and examples of how they have done this in a global environment Ability to understand conversion (revenue to profit(EBITDA)) – how operations impacts – productivity efforts and proven track record for productivity (understanding of financials/P&L). Strong decision making using data and experience – able to make decision that fit strategic initiatives of business – capital expenditures budgeting/makes vs buy decisions/SCM understanding/Continuous improvement etc. Proven that they can take operations from “good” to “excellent”.
