Product Development Engineer Location:
  • Glendora,CA MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: Possesses and applies knowledge of engineering principles, practices, and procedures of a particular specialization to assist the design and development of new or improved products.
  • In general, carry out engineering assignments of a broad nature, exercising considerable judgment and originality, as well as technical and project management abilities. Collaborate with Marketing and Sales departments to determine customer needs and product requirements.
  • Conceptualize new product designs to meet customer requirements. This requires an understanding of clinical practice and technique, knowledge of products currently in use, and also an understanding of applicable manufacturing methods.
  • Under general supervision, plan, conduct, lead, and report on significant developments projects. Review progress, evaluate results, and inform company management on project direction and status.
  • Generally operates with wide latitude for interviewed action or decision. Receives direct supervision and guidance primarily on novel or controversial problems.
  • Plan and make work assignments to technical personnel (designers, drafters, and technicians) for given projects or tasks. Interact with Production Engineers and Manufacturing Personnel to optimize product design for ease of manufacturing. Develop product cost estimates, project costs and time estimates.
  • Provide input for capital appropriation requests Design and conduct experiments to validate product and packaging performance. Effectively communicate with vendors and all levels of management.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
  • Qualified candidates must possess a B.S. degree or Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering. The position also requires three years experience in engineering; two years experience in high-volume medical or dental device manufacturing. SKILLS/ABILITIES: Excellent mechanical/ mechanism design fixturing.
  • Familiar with automated and semi-automated assembly methods ( vibratory feeders, etc.). Proficient use of Computer Aided Engineering/ Design (CAE/ CAD), proficiency with Solidworks is a plus. Familiar with CNC and Process Controller Programming. Competent with the use of personal computers and related software, knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Project is desirable. Project management skills.
  • Must posses excellent communication (Technical, Oral, Written). Must posses Excellent technical judgment and able to set logical action plan for design challenge and technical problem resolution.
