Summary of Essential Job Functions
Manage the DBA Staff
- Works closely and communicates effectively with all other IT Management
- Technical hands-on experience with Oracle and other Database technologies.
- Has Experience with Oracle high availability technology including Data Guard and RAC; Oracle setup, configuration and patching,
- Oracle Performance management including Instance tuning and Application Tuning; Database monitoring using tools such as OEM Grid Control
- Manage all aspects of database administration and the team\'s interaction with installations, configuration, upgrades, patching, migration, capacity planning, performance tuning, backup and recovery.
- Manage regular, proactive, required database maintenance activity
- Enforce adherence to IT Processes including SDLC, Change management, and other fundamental processes.
- Oversee the maintenance and management of multiple development, test, QA, and production environments.
- Responsible for overseeing the deployment of approved changes to production.
- Oversee the DBAs responsibilities in a 24x7 rotational on-call support, including driving Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Preventative action follow-though, and participation in regular operations reviews.
- Works with Development on designing standardized data models, and standard and optimal PL/SQL code.
- Actively participate and contribute to projects involving enterprise systems enhancements.
- Work with development project teams to design and implement database solutions to meet business requirements.
- Participate in project design and Oracle database design decisions. Refine and troubleshoot the design.
- Ensure that appropriate documentation about the database and the database architecture is maintained.
- Regular proactive capacity planning and tending reviews of all oracle databases. Producing weekly, monthly management reports.
- Project Estimation process - including attending project kick-offs and design reviews as necessary to appropriately size new environments, recommend infrastructure solutions and deliver associated cost and resource effort estimates
- Oversee the Development and implementation of Database security policies and procedures, in line with corporate objectives
Position Requirements
- Must have 2+ years of Management experience in Information Technology (IT).
- Must have 5+ years Oracle DBA working experience on Oracle 11g and/or Oracle 12c.
- Must be knowledgeable and experienced on the different versions of Oracle (10g, 11g) on multiple operating systems (UNIX, Linux).
- Hands-on Experience with various Oracle database technologies such as RMAN, Data Guard, Oracle Instance Architecture, Data Guard, RAC, Advanced Compression, Database Security, OEM Grid Control, Dynamic Views, and AWR
- Experienced with tools such as Toad, Spotlight, or other Monitoring tools.
- Experience with PL/SQL and UNIX/Linux Shell Scripting
- Strong SQL and PL/SQL Design, Development, Tuning and debugging skills
- Experience with Oracle Security Administration
- Ability to maintain a positive attitude while working with high demands and short deadlines
- Ability to prioritize and delegate potentially heavy workload in a dynamic and complex environment.
- Highly adaptable with ability to work in a fast paced demanding environment
- Must have excellent communications and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work well with development and infrastructure teams in doing database design, changes and enhancement to new and existing applications.
- Strong Troubleshooting Skills.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Understanding of High Availability and Disaster Recovery requirements and solutions.
- Experience with Microsoft SQL Server (preferred).
- Security and compliance experience including Encryption, Audit, Authentication, PCI, GLBA, SOX, etc. (preferred).
- Experience in supporting Oracle RAC environments and ASM (preferred).
- Experience in data modeling and DM tools such as Oracle Data Modeler, Erwin, Toad, Visio, etc. (preferred).
- Understanding of or experience supporting .NET application (preferred).
- Understanding of or experience with virtual environments (preferred).
