Job Description:

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Process Canadian weekly and biweekly cycles accurately and timely.
  • Monitor and oversee the integrity of pay using established guidelines and pay procedures.
  • Maintain full knowledge and documentation of pay processes and guidelines.
  • Provide front-line support to Canadian locations by researching and analyzing questions or concerns for payroll users and internal/external customers and suppliers.
  • This includes front-line support for Workday payroll and Kronos timekeeping questions.
  • Coordinate and complete payroll tax activities with our outsourcing vendor ensuring payments are made timely and completing year-end activities including T4â??s
  • Understand garnishment laws to ensure correct priority setting and timely remittance of all family support, levies, and garnishments.
  • Review process design in Workday system for efficiency and to ensure accurate and timely pay.
  • Play a lead role in the testing and implementation of upgrades for all payroll related systems, including Workday and Kronos.
  • Play a lead role in conversion project regarding locations that need to move from outsourced payroll to Workday payroll system.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and take appropriate action, i.e.: check sheeting, charting recommended process changes, etc to initiate improvement.
  • Develop and maintain customer/supplier relationship through ongoing expectation exchanges, through feedback and problem solving.
  • Play a lead role in the integration of acquisitions including, but not limited to payroll setup, parallel testing, user training and support.
  • Identify and solve root causes of discrepancies in payroll and tax related matters.
  • Support coordination, planning and scheduling of new and existing projects; serve as a subject matter expert and communicate status, define and track milestones by developing project plans, along with effective collaboration with all affected areas of the organization.
  • General Ledger reconciliation of payroll accounts.

  • Ability to train and/or mentor new employees, team members and Field HR
  • Experience with system conversions; payroll and time and attendance
  • Be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Ability to generate reports requested for both internal and external customers
  • Workday experience required
  • Kronos experience preferred
  • Bachelor??s Degree Required: Business or Accounting
  • Three to Five yearsâ?? experience processing Canadian payrolls
