Job Description:
Responsibilities
- Responsible for leading all aspects of SEC reporting and technical accounting matters.
- Responsible for various SEC filings and other public documents, including: Annual Report on Form 10-K, Quarterly Reports on Form 10-Q, quarterly Earnings Press Releases, and certain financial sections of the Company\'s Annual Proxy Statement.
- Responsible for concurrent filing of XBRL exhibits with quarterly reports (Form 10-Q) and annual reports (Form 10-K).
- Act as a subject matter expert, working with the business and others in the accounting organization to identify, resolve and document complex accounting issues and transactions.
- Partner and coordinate cross-functionally to understand business transactions and effectively communicate accounting issues with various departments throughout the company.
- Provide accounting guidance and feedback as initiatives are being developed to ensure that Business Development leadership and the VP, Corporate Controller and CFO understand the accounting and financial reporting ramifications of potential transactions.
- Assist in the preparation of technical accounting memos to support the Companyâ??s application of accounting principles to specific and non-recurring transactions and also advise on the operational implications to key stakeholders.
- Review the impact and adoption of new or proposed accounting standards and communicate the impact to senior management.
- Oversee the implementation of new accounting pronouncements â?? including the newly released revenue recognition standard. Develop, update and maintain relevant accounting policies and procedures.
- Keeps current on accounting and financial reporting trends, new GAAP accounting pronouncements impacting the Company, and SEC guidance and disclosure trends
- Interact directly with the independent auditors to discuss and resolve technical accounting issues in a timely manner.
- Oversee the administration of the Companyâ??s Equity Incentive Plans and supervise the accounting and disclosure for stock-based compensation transactions as part of the monthly close process.
- Oversee the accounting for licensing and collaboration arrangements
- Oversee the accrual process for determining the gross to net adjustments to revenue.
- Sustain Companyâ??s Sarbanes-Oxley Section 404 compliance efforts with respect to SEC Reporting, related monthly close and other activities.
- Prepare Audit Committee and Board materials as requested; and
- Perform special projects and other analytical support as requested.
Requirements
- 15+ years of progressive, relevant experience, with a mix of Big 4 public accounting and global public company industry experience within Pharma/Biotech,
- Bachelor??asdegree, Masters in Accounting or MBA is a plus
- CPA license with Big 4 accounting firm experience;
- Revenue stage Pharma/Biotech industry experience highly preferred
- Must possess excellent technical, analytical, and strong executive communication skills, both written and verbal
- Excellent knowledge of US GAAP, and proficiency with researching accounting literature including previous experience dealing with complex technical matters relevant to the Pharma/Biotech industry, including licensing and collaborations, revenue recognition, cost accounting, business combinations, and hedging
- Hands-on financial reporting experience in a fast moving global enterprise
- Possess a willingness and ability to work hands-on and with a sense of urgency, in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
- Proven ability to work in a cross-functional, high-growth environment, and to lead and drive complex initiatives
- Proven track record of leadership and ability and desire to mentor staff on career development
