Job Description:

Smucker is looking to have a resource join the team to help automate the testing of their current EDI middle-ware that has been implemented. They are currently leveraging a third party who is doing most of the their Data integration. However they need assistance is speeding up the testing processes to make sure the data is correctly formatted before being sent out for conversion.

This project will be helping to implement the middle testing layer that takes all of the transactions in and out of their system. They are currently in the process of implementing this for their transportation system, and then will move it to their other departments.

This project has been implemented to replace our current EDI system with a new EDI platform with enhanced functionality. The goal is to re-platform outdated technology and transform current processes. The existing system is outdated and does not fully comply with the industry’s best practices. There is the need to rethink and design integration with Business Partners (EDI), Transportation, Warehousing, and Customers and Business Applications (this includes On Premise and Cloud). This will dramatically improve IS capacity, flexibility to change, reliability, ability to respond quickly to issues, onboarding of trading partners as well as changes to existing relationships. This will help to ensure acquisition readiness for future endeavors. 

Additional Information:

DETAILED REQUIREMENTS: Java Developer with:
o Experience with service oriented architecture
o Develop utilities to pass XML data to and check status of services, verify and test queues, query underlying data tables for Oracle SOA Suite
o Experience with EDI
o Build automated tests to verify XML data transformations to and from EDI standard formats
o Experience developing Java classes to support automated testing
o Use Cucumber framework to build and execute hooks into SOA application from Gherkin scripts
o Build/configure utilities to parse data from source systems
o Excellent communication – oral & written
o Organizational skills
o Critical thinking – understand project goals and challenge requirements for completeness and accuracy
o Prior experience with large system implementations – proven prior experience driving outcomes

Java Developer Activities:
o Work closely with Test Lead and QA Analyst to understand EDI application and develop classes in Java that will support testing of back end system functionality, including:
o Validation of business rules
o XML formatting & transformations
o System performance
o Verification of environment components after migration or change
o System component security
o Work closely with development team
o Review and understand Functional and Technical specifications
o Work with Functional/Technical and Business teams to develop and automate test cases
o Work with test group to test solution in accordance with the defined test plan for validity of results, accuracy, reliability and specification conformance
o Tracks defects and works with Test Lead to coordinate notification to the development team for resolution
