Job Description
Role: Senior Data Architect
Role Description: The Senior Data Architect would need to have at least 4 years of experience. As a Senior Data Architect, you will be working on transactional data modeling projects of all sizes and complexity.
In this role, you will be expected to work with the business as well as developers to understand and develop requirements so they need very good analytical skills.
Key Responsibilities of a Senior Data Architect:
- Provide data architecture direction.
- Maintain the Enterprise Logical Data Model (ELDM).
- Maintain the Enterprises Technical Business Glossary.
- Support business stewards in the creation and maintenance of the Enterprise Business Glossary.
- Design, modify and maintain system level conceptual, logical, and physical transactional data models based on Business Requirement Documents (BRDs).
- Design, modify and maintain system level conceptual, logical and physical dimensional data models.
- Manage the corporate Meta data repository and model repository.
- Provide Data Definition Language (DDL) for physical database implementation/ maintenance by the database engineers.
- Produce sample SQL and data to the application development teams for understanding and validating physical data models.
- Provide technical support for query optimization.
- Produce data analysis on databases.
- Champion enterprise data policies and procedures.
- Provide technical knowledge on data architecture related trends, issues, and tools.
- Create and maintain strong business relationships to influence best data practices.
- Mentor to team members.
The Ideal Candidate Must Have:
- An undergraduate degree in Management Information Systems or an IT related field or equivalent education and related training.
-Five plus years of experience in a lead Data Architecture role.
- Five plus years of experience in transactional data modeling.
- Experience in dimensional data modeling.
- Ability to work on a top-down modeling approach.
- Proficient in Erwin or ER/Studio (Erwin is preferred).
- Experience with Erwin Model Mart.
- A solid understanding of Corporate Information Factory and/or Kimball data warehouse designs; both would be ideal.
- Experience with Master Data Management.
- A solid understanding of ETL processes.
- Experience in both waterfall and agile development practice.
- Experience in NOSQL data modeling.
- Proficient in SQL Server.
- A solid understanding of generalization such as Party/Role and other super-type/sub-types.
- Experience with enterprise level data models.
- Experience at gathering and documenting requirements.
- Ability to work with little to no supervision; should be able to mentor other team members.
- Excellent at problem solving, communication and customer service.
Education: Undergraduate degree in Management Information Systems or an IT related field
