Role:Java Developer
Location:Tampa/St. Petersburg, FL

Primary Responsibilities:

Develops and enhances complex systems and/or software from general requirements and specifications
Participates as technical expert to analyze technical system problems, and designs and implements effective solutions
Contributes to the development of project plans, and assigns and monitors tasks of lower level Software Developers as responsibilities and experience grows
May act as team leader on less complex projects
Assists in training less experienced software development staff
Work with business analysts and developers to create technical solutions that meet business and technical requirements
Contribute to efforts to improve quality of applications
Participate in code and design reviews and provide coaching to other members of the team
Assist in the Troubleshooting of code defects and deploy timely fixes
Implement new tools and technologies for use within the team
Contribute to the continuing technical education of the team
Create and maintain technical documentation
Resolves customer complaints with software and responds to suggestions for improvements and enhancements
May be asked to provide on-call support

Qualifications Critical Skills required:

Java/J2EE development experience
Extensive knowledge of IT concepts, strategies, and methodologies, architectures and technical standards
Knowledgeable in web and application servers such as Tomcat.
Extensive knowledge of design and development tools such as Eclipse.
Experience in working with ORM frameworks such as Velocity.
Knowledge of layered systems architectures and layered solutions and designs; understanding of shared software concepts
Strong communication skills

Working in Agile environmentKnowledge of:

Development Concepts, Design Patterns, and Relational Database Management System concepts
Familiar with Systems Testing concepts and quality management
J2EE Frame works, MVC, and Apache Velocity

Property & Casualty ( P&C) insuranceAbility to:

Effectively manages time and completes tasks within budgeted estimates
Foster teamwork and cooperation, promote sharing of information and establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course duty.
Communicate clearly in written and verbal form.

Adapt to changing requirements and technologiesEducation and ExperienceBachelors degree in Information Systems or Computer Science or related subjects and 2 to 4 years of Web and Enterprise application programming experience or Masters and 1-3 years of experience.
1+ years of Java/J2EE. Additional desired experience includes: 1 + years of Agile development experience, Insurance Now experience and P & C Insurance background
