Senior SQL Development DBA

Job Description:
SQL Development DBA will be largely responsible for providing database development, deployment, and code review services to the organization.
Job Duties:
•In this role, your primary responsibilities will be to work with the various BI and .Net development teams within the company to put code into TFS, developing automated deployment processes, creating database projects, and help troubleshoot performance issues throughout the organization. You will also be able to review current development and deployment strategies to ensure they are correct, and where not, make changes.
•Other responsibilities include operational work, including participating in the weekly on-call rotation, incident management and prevention to ensure that service related issues are resolved quickly and efficiently, responding to database alerts, and general ticket requests. We expect a 70/30 ratio of development to operation work.
Requirements:
•Strong understanding and experience in the use Visual Studio Database Projects, including creating, managing, and deployment of new code.
•Strong understanding and experience in the use TFS Source Control and workflows, including process creation and automation of deployments.
•Strong understanding of source control, branching strategies, GIT, etc. and how to apply to various projects within an organization.
•Experience in Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO), using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
•Strong understanding of good database development practices and T-SQL
•Experience in implementing operational automation using scripts.
•Experience with Azure SQL, Azure DW, and OLTP environments.
•Knowledge of backups, restores and recovery models.
•Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for MSSQL Server.
•Knowledge of indexes, index management, and statistics.
•Good communication and documentation skills.
Plus skills:
•Experience optimizing code for tables with over 1 billion records.
•Experience in indexing strategies for 100+ million table environments in an AlwaysOn Replica setup.
•Involvement with the MSSQL Server Community; membership in PASS, active in forums or newsgroups.
•Certification is a plus; MCTS, MCITP, MVP
•Experience with DB2, Oracle, and/or SAP environments
•General understanding of Linux CLI commands
•Previous experience in either a teaching or a volunteer role.
