Major Responsibilities

  • The Reliability Engineer is a key position to support the asset management life cycle and availability of all facility and equipment systems on site. The key responsibilities are:
  • Provide maintenance strategies to optimize the utilization of the Pm system (PMO) ensuring tasks and schedules effectively drive the equipment Reliability and Maintainability supporting the Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
  • Utilize the Reliability-centered Maintenance (RCM) process to determine the maintenance requirements of the physical asset in its operating context including Functional Failures, Failure Modes, Failure Effects, and Failure Consequences (Root Cause Analysis, Fault tree analysis, Reliability modeling, FMEA\'s, Failure reporting, etc.), engineering approaches, the CMMS, other historical data, and industry best practices to improve equipment reliability and performance.
  • Provide synergies with the maintenance function and other cross functioning teams to ensure a condition of minimal unscheduled downtime to support the availability of equipment.
  • Liaise with trades and contractors to support Preventive Maintenance (Pm) schedules and tasks including Predictive Maintenance (PdM) and Reliability projects.
  • Leads in building and maintaining spare parts inventory supporting the maintenance environment and continuous improvements initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and maintain documentation practices to track all work history and improve data analysis.
  • Educate/train the department on the value of building accurate equipment histories for trending purposes & reliability improvement.
  • Work with Project Engineering to ensure the reliability and maintainability of new and modified installations and adherence to life cycle asset management principles.
  • Review projects for maintainability and access, providing input on new equipment selection, defining spare part requirements, communicating PM/ PdM expectations, participating in final check-out of new installations, defining Maintenance related training requirements, and supporting development of Engineering Standards.
  • Work with the Reliability Manager to develop and implement: Methodologies, tools and procedures to identify and minimize facility and equipment risks.
  • Effective maintenance strategies for new and existing equipment Predictive Maintenance program to improve equipment reliability and performance.

Education and Experience

  • Minimum university Bachelors degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering or similar Engineering majors
  • Professional Engineer of Ontario (P. Eng) and Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) certification are preferred
  • Minimum five (5) years of previous relevant experience in manufacturing, maintenance, engineering environments; including two (2) or more working with maintenance personnel (both internal and contracted) in a Reliability Engineering role, preferred in pharmaceutical industry.
  • Understanding and experiences in Lean / Six Sigma / TPM methodology.
  • Proficiency user of FMEA, RCA and other reliability tools.
