Manager, Hospital Billing Location: Seattle, WA
Job Description:
The Medical Billing Manager contributes to the achievement of the department's goals and objectives, and is responsible for managing accounts receivables through billing to include the activities of inpatient, outpatient, emergency room and series billing, and receivables management. This position operates independently, directly supervises Patient Financial Services and Billing supervisors, and provides leadership and oversight for the Patient Financial Services and Billing staff. This position requires complex data analysis and troubleshooting, and is required to make independent decisions within the scope of responsibility. Major decisions are subject to the review and approval of the Administrative Director.
In this position you will:
- Oversee management and coordination of the pre-bill, billing, cash application, collection and customer service operations.
- Ensure that the accounts receivable records meet the standards established by Swedish and confirm to outside agencies.
- Provide staff supervision, hires, conducts performance reviews, counsels, oversee staff educational development, trains and provides disciplinary action as needed.
- Coordinate and disseminate insurance billing/reimbursement information across organization.
- Ensure efficient billing process inclusive of claim submission, claim payment and accounts receivable management.
- Oversee and coordinate activities of overall billing operations including billing systems, payer and vendor relationships, employee training and accounts receivable reporting.
- Manage a complex group of relationships with physicians, patients, employers, insurance companies and health plans.
Qualifications:
Required qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor's degree in business, accounting or related field
5 years experience managing a large hospital medical billing team, including Medicare and Medicaid and private insurance billing experience
If the specific healthcare professional is a registered or licensed professional in the state of Washington, registration or licensure is preferred.
