Data Engineer who will own, manage and improve the technical infrastructure that will enable a best-in-class, data-driven organization as well as possess some front end experience to enable future Ecommerce business growth via enhancements to our Shopify platform.

This is an exciting role that will have primary responsibility for a growing array of data infrastructure: MySQL data warehouse; Looker reports and visualizations; Python and Pentaho ETL pipelines to/from Intuitive ERP, Salesforce, e-commerce Shopify store, marketing data sources, fulfillment warehouse, etc.; underlying Linux cloud server and more. This role requires a dedication to both ongoing break-fix-improve and larger new-build projects.

The ideal candidate will be highly independent and passionate about rapidly translating needs into data and technology solutions, data quality and reconciliation. This person will be working closely with commercial and operations teams and must be passionate about the impact the role will have in unlocking new business opportunities.

Responsibilities

Data Management & Technical Ownership

• Lead and execute technical projects across Shopify and other backend platforms (Intuitive, Looker, Portal, etc.)
• Improve our current flat file system integration by utilizing common APIs
• Maintain data feeds across different marketing channels
• Take full ownership of MySQL data warehouse including customizing database tables that feed reports in Looker(business intelligence/data discovery/reporting tool).
• Maintain Python- and Pentaho Data Integration-based data pipelines between data sources (ERP, CRM, website, Facebook, marketing vendors, etc.) to provide access to data via reports, Looker analytics, and other tools.
• Maintain data warehouse availability through effective server management: cloud management, uptime monitoring, maintenance, security, backups, cloud management, etc.
• Define data and workflows for new reporting capabilities through thought partnership, training, and analytical support.
• Conduct data exploration and creation of dashboards to deliver insights to field sales team.
• Facilitate data exchange and enhancements with our educational platform.

Front End Development/Ops

• Lead and manage future upgrades, plugins and enhancements to Shopify
• Manage technical side of email operations.
• Manage pixels and tags via Google Tag Manager

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in a hands-on, technical role working with databases, data warehouses, and data pipelines.
• Extensive experience with SQL and Python.
• Demonstrable comfort working in a Linux-based console environment.
• Experience with BI tools (Tableau, Looker, Cognos, etc.) a plus
• Some experience with Shopify platform and a growing ecommerce business
• Demonstrated ability to work independently, passionate about the potential of data to unlock opportunities in an organization
